* Weather. The Temperature highs will be in the high 40's on Friday & Saturday, rising to nearly 60 on Sunday. The temperature lows will be in the mid 30's on Friday & Saturday, rising to the mid 40's on Sunday. Rain is in the forecast for Friday, likely between 10 am - 9 pm, but the total rainfall will only be about a quarter inch. It will be cloudy on Saturday only. Winds will be 10 - 15 mph all weekend. Friday & Weekend - Clio Art Fair, Rendez-vous with French Cinema at Lincoln Center, NYC Museums & Culture
* The Clio Art Fair began on Thursday, March 5th and runs through Sunday, March 8th at 550 West 29th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues. It's opened Thursday evening from 6 - 9 pm, then from 12 noon - 8 pm on both Friday & Saturday and from 12 noon - 6 pm on Sunday. The goal of the fair is to,
"... specifically target artists without any exclusive NYC gallery representation ... CLIO ART FAIR focuses attention on the kinds of contemporary art and interventions that are being created by independent artists the world over, since 2014 ..."
Tickets are $18 / $10 / $35 / $55 at www.clioartfair.com.
* The Rendez-vous with French Cinema at Lincoln Center runs from March 5th - 15th at Lincoln Center at Columbus Avenue between 62nd and 66th Streets on the Upper West Side. The program looks at French contemporary films with subtitles. See their website for films and showtimes at www.filmlinc.org.

* The NYC Plastic Grocery Bag Ban Began Sunday March 1st. UWS NYC Councilmember Rosenthal informs us that on Saturday, March 7th between the hours of 12 noon - 3 pm at the Subway Plaza at 96th and Broadway the NYC Department of Sanitation will be giving away free reusable bags.
* The Skating Rink at Rockefeller Center at 5th Avenue between 49th & 50th Streets opened on October 12th. It will remain open through April 2020 from 8.30 am - 12 midnight daily, in 90 minute skating intervals. General admission runs from $15 for kids to $25 - $33 for adults during general admission periods and skate rentals cost $13 extra.

Weather. The Temperature highs will hover around 40 throughout the weekend. The temperature lows will be in the high 20's on Friday & Saturday, rising to the mid 30's on Sunday. No Precipitation is in the forecast this weekend. It will be cloudy on Saturday and a sunny Sunday. Winds will be 10 - 15 mph all weekend. The Humidity will be in the high 30% range all weekend. Every weekend is a great weekend to visit museums in Manhattan including the Metropolitan Museum, the Frick Museum, the Guggenheim Museum, the Jewish Museum and the Cooper Hewitt Museum - all on 5th Avenue on the Upper East Side between 81st and 96th Streets.
Saturday - Gallery 35 Art Opening Reception, Skating Rockefeller Center
The photo at right was taken in the West Village last weekend, where you can see there were tons of people milling about the narrow streets and vintage homes and retail outlets. This was near the White Horse Tavern which reopened after some remodeling last year.
On Saturday, there's an art exhibit opening reception between 6 and 8 pm at Gallery 35 at 30 East 35th Street [between Park & Madison] in Midtown Manhattan near Gramercy Park. It's a group show, featuring Ellen Mandelbaum and other NYC metropolitan artists [art / free / www.gallery35nyc.com]. FYI - the closing reception is Saturday, April 4th at the same bat time.

Sunday - Last Day of Skating Bryant Park, Flatiron History Tour, Skating, Art & Culture at Museums & Plastic Grocery Bag Ban Begins
Hard to believe this was taken in mid / late February of 2020. It seems more like what one would expect to see in April in Washington Square Park - but it was only last weekend. A quote that is apparently incorrectly ascribed to Ben Franklin says that "We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid." I think it's an intelligent point regardless of its origins and I think it well fits the climate change deniers.

The photo at right shows folks walking down along Central Park on 5th Avenue on the Upper East Side just over a month ago. On Friday we'll get one of the coldest days of the year, and in the big scheme of things, it's not going to be that cold.
On Sundays there's a free FlatIron History Tour. No advance registration is required. Meeting at the tip of the Flatiron Building at 23rd Street, Fifth Avenue and Broadway. For details see www.flatirondistrict.nyc/free-walking-tour.
The Skating Rink at Rockefeller Center at 5th Avenue between 49th & 50th Streets opened on October 12th. It will remain open through April 2020 from 8.30 am - 12 midnight daily, in 90 minute skating intervals. General admission runs from $15 for kids to $25 - $33 for adults during general admission periods and skate rentals cost $13 extra.
Every weekend is a great weekend to visit museums in Manhattan including the Metropolitan Museum, the Frick Museum, the Guggenheim Museum, the Jewish Museum and the Cooper Hewitt Museum - all on 5th Avenue on the Upper East Side between 81st and 96th Streets.
