I. NYC West Village East Village Subways

NYC Subways 4/5/6 along 4th Avenue - North / South Gramercy Park - SoHo

NYC Subways 1/2/3 - Along 7th Avenue - North / South Chelsea - SoHo

The #3 subway lines stops at 14th Street and the next stop is Chambers Street in Tribeca. The #1 and #2 subways stop at Christopher Street / Sheridan Square and also at Houston Street at Varick [7th Avenue South becomes Varick south of Houston]. NYC Subways L Line - Along 14th Avenue To Brooklyn

The L line traverses 14th Street starting at 8th Avenue and ending in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn. The stops include 8th Avenue / 6th Avenue / 14th Street Union Square / 3rd Avenue / 1st Avenue and then onto the Bedford Avenue stop at North 7th Street in Brooklyn.

Other NYC Subway Lines Traversing West & East Village

The A / C / E lines stop at 14th Street and 8th Avenue, then at West 4th Street and 6th Avenue and then in SoHo at Spring Street and 6th Avenue.

The N / Q / R stop at 14th Street at Broadway near Union Square and then travers the Village and stop in SoHo at Prince Street and Broadway.

The F / M stop at 14th Street & 6th Avenue then at 4th Street on 6th Avenue and then at Broadway Lafayette at Houston in SoHo. The F continues east stopping at 2nd Avenue and Houston before snaking southeast into the Bowery.

II. Buses

Crosstown Buses Between The East Village & West Village NYC

There are crosstown buses on 14th Street and also on Houston. The M14 crosses town along 14th Street beginning in the West Village at Chelsea Piers at West Street and 18th Street and ending in the East Village at Grand Street and the FDR Drive.

The M21 crosses town on Houston Street beginning in the West Village at Spring Street and Greenwich Street and ending in the East Village at Grand Street and the

West Side - West Side Highway – 9A

West Side Highway - 9A: Coming south from the Lincoln Tunnel at 39th Street or north from the Holland Tunnel at Canal / Spring Street.

The West Side Highway slows considerably this far south in Manhattan as there are numerous exits. Exit at 10th Avenue [it’s at about 13th Street] for the northern section of the West Village. And at West Houston for the southern end of the West Village.
