Independent Polls of the NYC Mayoral Race
September 21, 2025 / NYC Mayors Race / Manhattan Politics / Manhattan News NYC / News Analysis & Opinion / Manhattan Buzz NYC. Continued.
The following are a few poll results generally published in the first half of September 2025.
Please note that for the most part we intend to reduce or eliminate our reliance on the billionaire owned network TV news organizations, as we no longer trust them to report the news in a balanced, fair or accurate manner. That said, sometimes the billionaire TV news organizations pay for reliable independent pollsters to conduct polls, which we will sometimes use.
Summary of NYC Mayoral Race Poll Findings thru September 21, 2025
Summary. Mamdani leads in all of the polls, and generally by wide margins. The electorate appears to be very dissatisfied with current and prior government officials; who they [and in my mind rightfully], seem to think they are corrupt. The top issues are affordable housing, crime, inflation and healthcare - the importance of which varies by age group. And Mamdani has a commanding lead in all of the Trump NYC Mayoral candidate enticement to exit the race scenarios. Also, one poll looked at Trump's (un)popularity with his hometown NYC, wherein it's almost 2:1 negative.
Pay Attention to the Billionaire TV News Wild Card. All six TV networks [CBS, Fox, CW, CNN, ABC & NBC] are now controlled by billionaires who are spooked that Mamdani may win - not because he's a Muslim as is sometimes asserted - but because he advocates for more equitable wealth distribution. Generally, billionaires favor the rich and powerful taking the lion's share of everything, like they have been doing and are doing now [thanks to some of the pols who are running]. So pay attention to TV news omissions, distortions, unfair allocation of coverage and negativity toward Mamdani vs promotional what a great guy 'news' pieces and 'news' interviews they broadcast with the other candidates. And if the primary is any indication of what to expect in the last few weeks before the election, you can turn off your TV to get away from what is sure to be a barrage of negative attack ads. It's a good time to try migrating some of your news consumption to the web - where the regular people are.

Emerson College Poll of NYC Mayoral Race 2025 - Trump Unpopularity Included in the Polls
- An Emerson College / WPIX / The Hill Poll was taken September 7 - 8, 2025 of 600 adults and reportedly has an accuracy variance of about +/- 4%. Take note that other things equal, a larger sample size usually translates into higher accuracy.
- This poll has Mamdani with a significant double digit lead with 43% of the vote, vs Cuomo 28%, Sliwa 10% and Adams 7%, with 9% undecided.
- Emerson looked at different scenarios regarding one on one contests between Cuomo, Sliwa or Adams versus Mamdani. Mamdani defeats all of them, winning 47%, 52% and 51% respectively versus Cuomo 40% with 13% undecided, Sliwa 28% with 20% undecided and Adams 30% with 19% undecided.
- All of the older candidates have established themselves more as negative figures in the minds of those polled, than as positive figures. Donald Trump who's not in the race was included in this question and he, as usual, emerged the winner, with 64% of voters polled having a negative view of him, versus Adams at 61%, Cuomo at 51% and Sliwa at 45%. By contrast, only 34% of voters have a negative impression of Mamdani [which the Billionaire TV Press is trying to change by dishonestly omitting key facts and distorting others], while 48% have a positive view of him. Cuomo is viewed positively by 34%, while both Adams and Sliwa ended up in the mid 20% range.

They also looked at other character traits which you can see by copying and pasting the link below.
- Lastly, Quinnipiac asked voters by age groups 18- 34, 35 - 49, 50 - 64, 65 plus, what the top issues were for them. Not unexpectedly, the top four issues include affordable housing, inflation, crime and healthcare. But note that the priorities changed from age group to age group.
