Hi, and welcome to the Midtown Buzz Events Calendar. We expect to begin posting some measure of events this month and expanding over time. Thanks for your patience. The Farmers Markets and Street Fairs sections contain links to pages that are up-to-date. We got a small start on the Restaurants and Shopping sections and professional services. Most of the other sections still need a considerable amount of work.
MAY is the month of Mothers Day, graduations, weddings and Memorial Day Weekend in Manhattan. There's plenty to do in the parks, at the farmers markets and street fairs, and cultural happenings abound in Manhattan town. Guggenheim Art Museum - Upper East Side Manhattan NYC
May: Italian Futurism 1909 - 1949 & Thannhauser Collection
First time exhibit in U.S. of Italian Futurism with 300 works beginning w/ 1909 manifesto and ending after WWII.
Two generations of Thannhausers, who opened the Modern Gallerie in Munich in 1909, and a second in 1917 in Lucerne, promoted the arts in a manner comparable to Guggenheim. Due to the Nazi purge of 'degenerate art' they closed in 1937 and left for Paris, eventually settling in NYC.
Admission $22 / $18. The Guggenheim Museum is located at 1079 Fifth Avenue at 89th Street. Open 10 am - 5.45 pm every day except Saturdays when open until 7.30 pm and closed Thursdays. 212.423.3500.

Community Board 7 decided not to renew Crafts on Columbus Street Fair [from 77th to 81st Streets] which run three weekends in May & October. This street fair supported local artists vis a vis to other more traditional street fair offerings. There's a petition started by a local artist to advocate that CB 7 renew the permits. 5 Boro Bike Ride - Manhattan
May 4: 5 Boro Bike Ride
The 5 Boro Bike Ride starts between 7 and 9 am at Battery Park in Manhattan and ends in Staten Island at the ferry stop. It's a 42 mile trek with plenty of rest stops along the route and a nice way to visit all five boroughs close up. Intended for fun & families as 32,000 people participate.
